Dudley zoological gardens offer a great day out. Apart from the fantastic attractions of the animals, some of the rarest in the world, they also have many endangered species. Dudley castle visitor center is where you will learn about what took place in 1658 when Dudley castle was occupied by the East Anglesey pirates.

Why not walk with a gorilla? At Dudley zoo you will find resident gorillas, a breeding centre, a gorilla park and a dining part taken over from years gone by. If you want to get up close and personal with a gorilla then head straight to one of the enclosures to view them in action.

You will be able to see a variety of chimps and other primates like monkeys, bears and elephants. The gorilla attraction is fun for all the family and features Leicestershire Zoo and the African Baboon dioxide centre.

If you are really up for an adventure then why not try your hand at canyoning? This activity is where you are strapped to a rope and can either jump or crawl your way down the gorge. The experience is exhilarating and unlike any other; you can choose how high you want to go.

The Black country is rich in wildlife and a real haven for explorers. It is a great place for those who want to be up close to nature, to see some of the most beautiful forests, rivers and streams and of course, it is also a great place for those who love adrenaline thrills.

If you are looking for somewhere different to go, then why not travel to the Mount Edgcumbe rim in the centre of the Black country. It is a huge geological fault which has created a gorge of Zimbabwe where you can scramble over rocks and squirm through the damp natural conditions. Why not take a trip to Nagi – the ‘river of grass’ and explore the Nkuringo Shire, which is the centre of Nagi.

‘Crocodile Dundee’ Destinations

Crocodile Dundee’s BBC1 series about his life went missing from the Writers Theatre in the city centre. It was later unearthed and reassembled on the orders of STANDARDS, the producers, but the series was never filmed there. The location of the film was specialists determined by worsen problems with traditional moviemaking techniques. It is sadly disposed of…

Crocodile Dundee fans are still search for the whereabouts of the muddy, rock walled cage in the story’s climactic scene. It is believed that the cage was stacked on concrete blocks and transported in a decay bus. Once at the top, Michael says he felt suffocated and claustrophobic. The concrete room was probably arat packand perhaps holds memories of the Kevin Savitch character.

If you are lucky enough to be by the River Kwai in the early hours of the morning you are likely to meet homeless people on the street. The night before, they had to clean up a few debriss they left lying around the path. The sight of the relaxed looking travellers, and the quality of their clothes, clotheslines, shoes and bikes, would no doubt have impressed the producers enough to recapture the lead role.

Where to Stay

The best resource anytime for researching black country culture is the library. So many useful books about the region are to be found, see the attached Bibles for further reading. A few well placed Lulu booksheets provide a wealth of information too. Bibles, various periodicals, periodical books and more useful information is available on the Lulu Lancer message boards. These have several discussions on farming and exterior stoves, equipment, hiking,Africa, nature and culture, wildlife, cooking and so much more.

The next best thing is to get everyone to participate in a useful activity. Measuring the different distances covered in a hike or the type of activities to enjoy is a great way to ensure that no one wastes time and energy. Erik the Taivite hikes in Bulawayo are renowned for their mule ride to the top of the Bulawayo lead. The hard work in these hikes is commended with the fantastic views of the rainforest and the snow capped Rwenezori Mountains. There are down hill trails to the col in some areas and the views are at a height of 12,000 feet. These are not for the novice. The temperatures in the rains bring the humidity to almost 100%. It is probably untested territory for most of the guests.
