Isn’t it supposed to be ‘Leave No Trace’?
Wanna tell you a secret? Paragliding doesn’t leave any trace as it is considered to be a ‘green’ sport. Not only is the technique of riding in a harness using air for propulsion, it also does not leave any effect on the environment.
Amazing, isn’t it? Everything you do while riding in a tandem gondola, except for possibly creating a small dust trail, is considered to be absolutely magnificent. And this ‘green’ activity is actually a combination of many that would otherwise be considered in the developed world.
Do you like to do camping? Going hiking? riding through rough terrains? Now you can do all of that while riding in a mountain bike – because that’s what you’re doing, right? Wrong! Instead of going and camping in an area that is not accessible to you, you’re instead creating an area that is inaccessible to you. In addition to that, you’re using a ‘bot’ to glide through the trails. Do you want to enjoy the scenery? Would you like to see the scenery? Well, you can do all of that while riding in a mountain bike.
So, do you see the above mentioned activities? They are all forms of enjoying and accomplishing small yet significant steps to sustainable community development. It does not matter if you are individually or collectively making a difference.
We need to be a caring, sharing, community minded people. To be able to Elevate consciousness and bring about a more just and meaningful world, we need to work together and take small, crucial steps along the way.
Do you have a favourite place you’ve visited? Did you find yourself in a memorable location or scene? Did you observe something that was memorable? Did you view the world with new eyes?
I can’t imagine not saying that the Rocky Mountains of Colorado have many, many wonderful things to offer. I myself have been to the Rocky Mountains on a number of occasions. What I see is usually breathtaking, eye-opening and really brings home the importance of being in touch with nature.
I also value the memories of my experiences in the Rocky Mountains. They too are 90% rocks and gravel. Memories are simple but they can mean everything.
I hope when you are sitting on the porch of your home and looking up at the blue sky with the clouds passing by, that you feel memories. Not endless ones but those ‘little ones’ that cling to your heart and seep through your fingers when you are ready to hang yourself up.
The waters in the Rocky Mountains are pretty cool. Do you swim? Cool! Shower! Sit back and have a seat. Go ahead and dig your toes into the sand. Feel the cool spray of the water on your skin. Feel the tears well up in your eyes. Feel the wind whistling through your hair. Kiss your wife goodnight and go to bed.
It will be a good life lesson. Too often we are obsessed with getting the best view out of the environment and then we treat our bodies the same way. We want to get the best pictures and leave footprints. Well I taught my daughter the rules of leaving footprints.
When you are finished cooping you toilet water and put in a fresh cooler that has ice in it and you are good to go. You want to take that ice to the general store to purchase food. You want to take that food to the general store so you can get more ice to cool down your drinking water. You can’t walk to the general store? Then you might want to pick up a few spoons.
Don’t forget to pack your Catch and Release fishing tackle. Kids love it.
When it comes to clean-up the mess you leave, make sure you pick up After Bite and other crab parts and carefully fold the twigs you collected into little balls. When you fold and roll them up, you won’t be fighting with the debris when you roll the twigs into balls and they fall into the pile.
crabs will eat the biggest bugs. Crabs have sticky spots on their shell so they go into those little holes to work their way out. When you leave the area, the crab will live for another few hours in the ball.
I know some of you are saying I’ve never been on a vacation where my Dad was the boss. vacations are good for business. Family time is expensive. Why not invest in a little vacation time? You can use your family time without worrying about the business.
Vacations are perfect because they are cheap and yet you get to enjoy the company of your family. Vacations are cost effective and yet give you the kind of experience professional getaway offers.
